The quick action by the management at a Lafayette Arby's — with Burns recalling he observed the firing of the employee he encountered — hasn't eased the frustration of not hearing more from leaders in the restaurant chain. When Burns, a board member of Pride Lafayettepicked up the couple's Arby's order on June 6, he noticed a homophobic slur had been typed on the receipt where Burns' name would have appeared.

He just turned to me with some lame excuse about the computer glitched. He told me he's put people's names in the computer before and they came out wrong. The cashier, Burns said, referenced using superficial characteristics on receipts in the past. I couldn't even believe he said that.

Burns and Craig addressed the issue with the manager of the Arby's. After then seeing the employee fired on the spot, he said, they reached out to the company's corporate office. Gray received a message the next day on Facebook from an area supervisor for Arby's who left her phone number.
